Job Title: Property General Manager

Job Summary: This is a hybrid position overseeing the operations of our recently renovated and award winning Best Western Plus Milwaukee West and our onsite restaurant National Pizza Pub and Grille. Along with operational oversight this position will also be very heavily involved in Sales and Revenue Generation. You will work very closely with our Revenue Manager and Property Sales Manager from Best Western Corporate as well as our sister property Sales Team located in Johnson Creek, WI. Your Director of Operations will assist you by handling the operations of the Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Breakfast Departments.
Job Duties: HOTEL GENERAL MANAGER – 40%

  • Recruits, selects, trains, and manages employees to deliver superior guest services and quality products that will lead to maximizing revenue and profitability goals.
  • Creates and maintains customer-driven operations, empowering hotel staff to excel in superior customer care.
  • Develops, recommends, implements, and manages the hotel's annual budget and long-term business plan. Achieves budgeted sales and maximum profitability.
  • Creates new programs in response to market conditions and revenue opportunities.
  • Protects the hotel’s financial assets by properly administering policies and procedures for handling cash, credit cards, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and all other financial transactions. Also, properly administers policies and procedures for protecting the safety of guests and employees.
  • Prepares monthly reports for owners.
  • Ensures regular assessment and review of all hotel personnel by appropriate management staff. Coordinates internal training and development programs.
  • Maintains a high personal visibility throughout the property and throughout the community.

HOTEL DIRECTOR OF SALES – 40%

  • Assists in the development of the Marketing Plan and Key Account Action Plans.
  • Cultivates lead sources through direct sales calls/appointments, cold calls, telemarketing, etc.
  • Establishes and maintains close contact with assigned accounts and target accounts.
  • Maintains well-documented, accurate, organized and up-to-date file management system in order to service the client and employer in the most expedient, organized and knowledgeable manner.
  • Develops strong customer relations through frequent communication, professional, courteous and ethical interpersonal interactions. Develops customer profiles and maintains an effective trace system, including dates and references, in order to best meet client needs, resulting in superior account services and increased revenues.
  • Conducts research, surveys, personal investigation and studies marketplace and territory in order to effectively capitalize on the hotel’s strengths and competitor’s weaknesses and capabilities.
  • Controls departmental expenses on the property’s behalf in order to minimize hotel costs.
  • Maintains active involvement in assigned community and industry organizations.
  • Assists in ensuring that customers are 100% satisfied with their hotel experience.

RESTAURANT MANAGER – 20%

  • Manages the restaurant ensuring the highest quality dining experience and superior customer satisfaction.
  • Empowers staff to ensure all guest service issues are resolved prior to guest leaving the restaurant.
  • Purchases food and supplies from authorized vendors to meet menu requirements. Anticipates supplies and materials needed on a daily basis.
  • Implements new ideas in food concepts, new menu items, and food presentations.
  • Maintains high standards of quality control, hygiene, and health and safety.
  • Hires, supervises, and disciplines staff.
  • Prepares staff schedules, allowing for appropriate service while controlling labor costs and overtime.
  • Develops team members through appropriate training, coaching, and mentoring to ensure strong operational performance. Motivates team members and promotes empowerment.
  • Works with the General Manager to coordinate catering functions.
  • Leads with a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management or Business or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Degree or certificate in Food Service, Nutrition, Culinary Arts or Hotel/Restaurant Management preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of five years of hotel management or supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of five years of hospitality sales experience. Minimum of three years management experience.
  • Minimum of two years food and beverage experience, preferably in the hotel industry. Minimum of one year of experience in a supervisory role in a restaurant setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of local competition and general industry trends.
  • Strong leadership and a professional image.
  • Strong revenue management skills. Must be innovative and self- motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent decision-making ability and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Available to travel in and out of state.
  • Must be able to work independently and have the drive to succeed.
  • Knowledge of local competition and general industry trends.
  • Excellent decision-making ability and analytical skills.
  • Must maintain a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must have a current driver’s license and use of a vehicle which is insured and maintained in good condition.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
