The Greensboro Science Center is seeking an energetic, motivated, and hard-working team member for part-time hire for their weekly Horticulture position.

Primary duties may include morning campus maintenance prior to visitors, greenhouse plant propagation work and care, select indoor/outdoor plant care, mulching, compost management, seasonal tree and shrub trimming, planting for exhibited garden spaces and maintained landscaped regions.

Work will also include seasonal late spring – summer butterfly pavilion exhibited plant care.

Applicants must be available to work mornings 7:30 am – 12:30 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Must be able to work in various outdoor weather conditions and perform safe operation of maintenance power equipment such as leaf blower, hedge trimmer, weed eater, other power equipment and be trained in the safe use of on-site utility vehicles. Morning seasonal timeframe may shift with daylight hours and may be subject to alterations due to inclement weather conditions.

Skills

  • Prior experience with landscaping equipment and greenhouse or plant care preferred
  • Must be able to lift 50 lb bags

  • Work well independently and as a team


Applicant must have a high school degree or equivalent G.E.D., related work experience in landscaping or other grounds care work is desired. Applicants must have a valid North Carolina drivers license.
