Title: Help Desk Technician

Location: Corporate Headquarters, Dakota Dunes, SD

Reports to: Jason Muehlmeier, Sr. Director of IT

Job Description: The Help Desk Technician serves as the first contact for employees who need technical assistance. The Help Desk Technician provides technical support in person; via remote session; or via phone, email, and/or Teams messages to employees who need assistance in accordance with established organizational processes and policies. The Help Desk Technician is responsible for properly tracking issues via an internal ticketing systems and managing/tracking IT hardware issued to employees. The Help Desk Technician is also responsible for interacting with and advising, guiding, and instructing both new and existing employees in the usage of organizational products, systems, and technology.

Required Education: The Help Desk Technician should have 2+ years of experience working in IT support or a help desk environment. An Associate's degree in computer science or related field or similar technical training is required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent research and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize, and adapt to changing business requirements.
  • A strong working knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software.
  • Knowledge of IT system operation, maintenance, and security needed to keep equipment functioning properly.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principles.
  • Knowledge of systems administration concepts.
  • Hands on experience with diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
  • Skill in using the appropriate tools for repairing software, hardware, and peripheral equipment of a system.
  • Skill in conducting research for troubleshooting novel client-level problems.
  • An openness to learning new technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure hardware, software, and peripheral equipment for system users in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Respond to employee support requests via the phone, via email or Teams, in person, or through remote access.
  • Perform or facilitate repair and/or replacement of computers, hardware, and related add-ons.
  • Track employee technical issues to resolution in a timely manner and document activity of resolution.
  • Administer accounts and access to systems and equipment.
  • Promote and maintain cybersecurity and data protection on all devices.
  • Advise, guide, and/or instruct users in the usage of organizational products, systems, and technology.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to setup systems, services, and accounts for new employees.
  • Perform onboarding calls/training sessions with new employees.
  • Carry out IT-related termination procedures for exiting employees.
  • Gather feedback from employees and analyze incident data for emerging trends.
  • Make recommendations based on trend analysis for enhancements to software and hardware solutions to enhance employees’ experience.
  • Perform asset management/inventory of information technology (IT) resources.
