Job Summary

The Health & Safety Manager will implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. You will monitor and implement the company’s safety policies and ensure that the organization is compliant with safety, health and environmental regulations. In this role, you will make it a priority to help prevent or reduce hazards, dangers, and accidents.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manages the safety personnel who are responsible for detecting, preventing, and mitigating safety hazards in the field
  • Recruits/hires, provides constructive and timely performance evaluations, and identifies training needs for safety personnel
  • Identifies and coordinates training needs for safety personnel
  • May handle or assist with discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections
  • Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures
  • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings
  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
  • Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of safety-related construction experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of safety, health and environmental regulations and policies (including OSHA, CAL/OSHA, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, decision-making and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental & safety-related inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Ability to work with all construction groups – management, owners, trades and subcontractors.
  • Ability to train, influence and motivate team members.


Education

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • OSHA 500, CHST or CSP certification preferred

  • Must be physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
  • Employee may be required to drive a motor vehicle and travel to various project sites.
  • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position in Yuba City, CA is $88,054.78 - $148,797.18.

The above salary range represents MGE Underground, Inc.’s competitive compensation at the time of this job post. Pay within this range will be determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, skills/abilities, and applicable knowledge.
