Exciting Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to grow a large well-established book of Transactional Equipment Breakdown Insurance while also driving significant growth of new and exciting product lines in the Transactional profit center such as Cyber, Renewable Energy and IoT-driven insurance solutions. The majority of this business is through HSB’s agent, broker and wholesaler channels. The Custom Accounts Division (CAD) is positioned and expected to be a leading growth engine for HSB building on a well-established strong foundation. The Head of Transactional Insurance is a key member of the HSB CAD Senior Leadership Team. This role has accountability for P&L for all Transactional Insurance revenue streams within CAD. This role will be responsible for establishing, leading and executing on all strategies associated with Transactional Insurance. Will have the opportunity to reinvent HSB’s transactional business model with a modern, automated, AI-enabled process to win with solutions that HSB leads (EB, Cyber, IoT-driven, etc.) through risk leadership and ease of doing business with.

The Right Team

The Transactional Insurance business unit is fully integrated, i.e., underwriting, business development and operations. Success relies on rigorous collaboration with HSB’s industry class Underwriting and Operations leaders that are supporting the business. This includes the CAD Chief Underwriting Officer to understand performance analysis, risk appetite and make adjustments to Transactional Insurance strategy as required, as well as the CAD Chief Operating Officer to ensure that HSB is easy for clients to do business with, and that systems and operations are optimized to achieve business strategy. Responsible for leading and developing talented teams of dedicated business development/ client management, underwriting and operations staff to achieve financial and strategic goals.

WE EXPECT

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • 12+ years of senior or executive level leadership in the insurance industry
  • 10+ years of specialty insurance experience
  • 10+ years of experience leading a client facing business development organization.
  • 10+ years of experience in leading successful significant growth strategies for agent and broker distribution
  • 10+ years of experience in developing comprehensive business cases to evaluate viability and determine key decisions for potential business endeavors.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Expert level knowledge of specialty insurance industry and agent, wholesaler and broker distribution
  • Heavily established and current relationships with agent, wholesaler and broker distributors
  • Demonstrated success in launching automated transactional operating model.
  • Demonstrated success in gaining significant market share of well served market.
  • Project management skills and ability to drive results.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in growing wholesale distribution required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage business to business partnership.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with internal partners and stakeholder to serve external clients.
  • Strategic and forward thinking, expertise in business general management, including planning & forecasting.
  • Sophisticated client relationship management capabilities
  • Consultative Selling skills
  • Ability to influence others at every level both internally and externally and effectively present in a compelling way.
  • Ability to be creative and position assigned revenue stream to succeed in highly competitive environment.
