Handyman/Carpenter

As a Handyman you will work under the Home Repair Managers indirect supervision. You will be responsible for job planning, material purchases, time management, customer relations and upselling on the projects assigned to you.

On occasion you will be assigned a helper or sub-contract that you will be directly responsible for. Typical projects may include, Demolition, masonry, framing, cabinetry, tiling, finish work, and possibly light plumbing or electrical. The scope of each project will vary greatly. You will be expected to provide appropriate tools and knowledge for all jobs you accept.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee set up and maintenance of dust and surface protection.
  • Safely and efficiently complete demolition.
  • Plan proper blocking for cabinets, accessories, and mirrors.
  • Set windows and exterior doors to manufacturer specifications.
  • Replace light fixtures, switches, outlets, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Run ductwork, perform painting and drywall repairs.
  • Install appliances, interior doors and trim to high-quality standards.
  • Build high-quality built-ins and millwork details.
  • Install bathroom and kitchen accessories, prefinished flooring to manufacturer specs.
  • Meet with inspectors, provide planning assistance to trade contractors, oversee clean and safe job sites, and ensure high-quality finish through quality checks.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and must exhibit above average time management skills

Experience:

  • 5 years plus of hands-on residential construction work.
  • High School, some college or trade school is desirable.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive finish carpentry experience and knowledge including trim, cabinetry installation, and interior finishes.
  • High quality drywall, and painting skills.
  • Good working knowledge of all related building trades. The ability to replace plumbing and electrical fixtures.
  • The ability to teach others.
  • Fluency in English is a must and Spanish fluency is a plus!
  • Body Positions: standing, sitting, climbing kneeling, squatting, ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Body Movements: Carrying, use of hands, eyes and arms and voice.
  • This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding work on a consistent basis.
  • State Drivers License and clean driving record.
  • Must be available for flexible work hours if required and be available after hours should emergencies arise during projects.
