GRANTS MANAGER

JOB LOCATION: Greeley, Colorado; option for remote work when appropriate

SUPERVISOR: Vice President of Finance/Controller

STATUS: Full Time, exempt

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBLITIES

This position is the lead staff member helping to oversee the fiscal management of all private foundation, state and federal grant funding at United Way of Weld County ($3 to $4 million annually). This position assists the entire organization with grant administration and oversight from pre-award to post-award/grant closeout activities. This positon is also the lead on all grant monitoring and is a key support staff member for audit activities, including Single Audit activities. This position assists the finance department with all monthly, quarterly and annual activities associated with grant spending and reporting. The position works closely with the Vice President of Finance/Controller and other staff accountant positions as well as program staff, including the Vice President of Community Impact and program directors and coordinators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead finance department member that has oversight of all grant management for the lifecycle of each grant. This includes but is not limited to support and technical assistance to finance department and programming staff members.
  • Assisting team members with general oversight and monitoring of monthly accruals, receivables and revenue.
  • Monitoring grant budgets and working with the finance department and program staff to mitigate grant budget issues. This includes but is not limited to running monthly revenue and expense reports, and running regular projections for grant spending as it relates to approved grant budgets.
  • Reviewing and approving all invoices before being submitted.
  • Maintain the organization’s accounts on SAM.gov and ELoccs.
  • Working with program staff on procurement processes and policies.
  • Preparation and final approval of all budget modifications and grant extensions.
  • Implementing all state and federal grant guidelines to ensure compliance. This includes but is not limited to consistently apply federal and state rules and regulations, including 2 CFR 200 to all federal funding managed and/or sub-awarded out by UWWC.
  • Assisting with all grant monitoring activities, including assisting program staff to monitor sub-recipients of federal and state funding awarded to UWWC that is sub-awarded to other partners.
  • Assisting with audit preparation.
  • Assisting with annual budget preparation as well as all individual program and grant budgets.
  • Assisting with and final approval of all final grant financial reports.
  • Reviewing indirect cost rates and preparing indirect cost rate proposals, if necessary.
  • Ensuring that correct documentation and records are maintained.
  • Assisting with programmatic evaluation and projections, as it relates to long-term programmatic planning and financial sustainability.

Supervision

  • Day-to-day supervision of up to two employees in the finance department
  • Perform general supervisor tasks such as approving timesheets, reviewing purchases and mileage, and leading regular team check-ins
  • Provide general staff support through problem solving and conflict mediation

United Way of Weld County General

  • Support and promote the mission, values, goals and objectives of United Way, including representing United Way in professional organizations and the community (as assigned).
  • Support fundraising efforts of United Way and activities that support United Way.
  • Support United Way annual events, disaster response, and other activities as assigned.
  • Participate in staff meetings and in service opportunities.
  • Contribute to organizational promotions including writing promotional copy, proofreading informational and campaign materials, participation in outreach, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (accounting, finance, etc.).
  • Three to five years of grant accounting experience with a minimum of three years of federal and state grant accounting experience.
  • At least three years of experience in grants management, including budgeting, monitoring and managing grants and other restricted funding.
  • At least three years of supervision experience.

  • Salary Range (s6): $72,088 - $86,151 annual
