    JOB TITLE: French Teacher(Foreign Language)

    WORK YEAR: 187 days

    REPORTS TO: Building Principal

    This position is for the 23/24 school year and is probationary unless the selected candidate is hired after the first student day. Per Master Agreement, when a position is filled after the opening of school by an individual who was not employed by the District in the previous school year, that employee will receive a one-year temporary contract.

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Fort Logan Northgate is seeking a Middle School Foreign Language-Spanish Teacher who has experience working with second language learners and at-risk populations.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Teach and instruct middle school students in French Foreign Language
    • Plan and implement French curriculum
    • Teach using various methodologies, including lectures, discussions, writing workshops, literacy circles, etc.
    • Plan, develop, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and aids appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of pupils from varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds who possess a range of mental and emotional maturity
    • Provide group and individual instruction to motivate pupils and effectively utilize the time available for instructional activities
    • Prepare, administer, score, record and report the results of criterion referenced tests
    • Administer, score, record and report the results of group standardized and quarterly benchmark tests in evaluating pupil growth and progress
    • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues and students regarding student growth goals and performance reports
    • Perform curriculum and instructional development activities

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL LICENSED POSITIONS:

    Required
    • Teachers must hold a valid Colorado License.
    Preferred
    • Hold an endorsement and authorization level in the subject area appropriate for assignment.
    • Pass an approved content exam in subject area.
    • Hold 36 semester hours in assigned subject area.

    Instructional Interaction (Teaching)
    • Apply principles of teaching/learning to enhance student achievement.
    • Utilize teaching methods that are appropriate for the objectives and learners.
    • Modify instruction to meet student needs.
    • Communicate effectively with learners.
    • Provide for and maintain student involvement during instruction.

    Evaluation of instruction
    • Use the evaluation of student outcomes to measure the effectiveness of instruction.
    • Communicate effectively student progress to student and parent/guardian

    Instructional management
    • Attend to tasks in a manner that maximizes instruction.
    • Maintain necessary student records.
    • Assist in planning for appropriate use of volunteers/aides as assigned

    • Establish clear expectations for appropriate behavior.
    • Establish consequences for inappropriate behavior.

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions required the following physical demands: some lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling: and signification fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. This job is performed in generally a clean and healthy environment.

    CLEARANCE:
    Must clear background check through the CBI and the FBI through Fingerprint submission.

    SALARY:
    Placement on Licensed Teacher salary schedule based upon highest degree earned, college credits earned after highest degree and previous teaching experience. Current Board approved Licensed Teacher salary schedule, placement policy and Master Agreement are available for review on our district website at www.ssd2.org. Highest initial step placement on the Licensed Salary Schedule is Step 9.

    The annual salary for this position will be determined by number of hours scheduled to work each day and number of days scheduled to work each year. The computed annual salary will be spread out in equal payments over 12 months. Sheridan School District employees are paid once a month on the 1st working day of the month that is not a weekend day or holiday.

    BENEFITS:
    Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible to obtain district benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and supplemental benefits. Positions that qualify for benefits also qualify for leave which could include vacation and daily leave to be determined by the position and number of days assigned. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by state statute to contribute 11% of salary. The district contributes 21%.
