Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School seeks a talented Registered Nurse to serve as its founding school nurse. We are looking for culturally competent candidates that possess experience working in diverse schools with English Language Learners and students with IEPs. The school nurse must possess a passionate commitment to the health and wellness of students. The school nurse is a vital member of the school team who collaborates with school staff members, families, students, and community members.

Current certification for CPR and AED by the American Heart Association as a Health Provider.Strong organization skills and attention to detail.Passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including students, staff, and families across a range of identities.Demonstrated trauma-informed, patient centered and culturally competent nursing practices.

A decisive educator who can make difficult decisions taking into consideration the needs of students and the school community.Persistence in the face of obstacles, productive problem-solving to counter setbacks, and takes initiative to seize opportunities to make a change.Skilled at reflecting on how to improve, self-awareness of one's strengths and weaknesses, and willingness to take responsibility for actions and mistakes.ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but are not limited to the following: Provide health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up.Update health files for each student.Maintain a log of medication administration, assessments, interventions, and communication with families.Maintain health cabinets with all necessary medical supplies including safe handling, storage, and disposal of prescription medications and hazardous wastesFollow Individual Health Care Plans and Emergency Action Plans for students with special health needs, and include in section 504 plans or IEPs as applicable;Maintain privacy and confidentiality of student's health and medical information per State and Federal Laws.Knowledge of medical disorders and treatment; child growth and development; public health problems and procedures for treatment in coordination with other health and social service agencies; universal precautions; federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services; district policies, procedures, rules and regulations; FERPA and HIPAA regulationsModel and demonstrate a strong commitment to: the schools vision and motivating others to do the same;the work of being an anti-racist school;student empowerment, and commitment to allowing students to play an active role in supporting the schools vision and climate; anda whatever it takes spirit to ensure that each student is successful.Demonstrate enthusiasm for fostering teamwork and collaboration to support excellence in teaching and learning.Show a commitment to continually seek out perspectives across a range of identities and can respond appropriately to the perspectives of students, staff, families, and other stakeholders.Join Our Adult CrewAt Worcester Cultural Academy, our faculty and staff collaborate and support one another and our students through a number of school-wide activities, events and celebrations.
