Worcester Cultural Academy Charter Public School seeks a dedicated Occupational Therapist to serve grades K-4. We are looking for culturally competent candidates that possess experience working in diverse schools with English Language Learners and students with IEPs. The Occupational Therapist must possess a passionate commitment to helping our students develop skills needed to fully participate in and out of the classroom. They will create fun and exciting programs to help students master ADLS, interaction skills, motor and process skills, play, and graphic communication.This is an exciting opportunity to partner with other staff, families, and students as a founding teacher at an innovative charter public school in the city of Worcester.

QualificationsLicensed Occupational TherapistA passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences including students, staff, and families across a range of identities.Demonstrated student-centered, cultural competence and trauma informed skills. Persistence in the face of obstacles, productive problem-solving to counter setbacks, and takes initiative to seize opportunities to make a change.Skilled at reflecting on how to improve, self-awareness of one's strengths and weaknesses, and willingness to take responsibility for actions and mistakes.ResponsibilitiesDuties include, but are not limited to the following: Administer assessments, write reports, communicate with families, and participate in team meetings and IEP development.Plan and implement occupational therapy intervention programs that meet the specific goals and objectives as stated in the IEP.Possess excellent skills in instruction, organization, cultural competence and communication.Assist students individually or in small groups who need differentiation in the classroom.Work with the leadership team, classroom teachers, and other specialists to ensure the needs of all students are being met.Successfully implement school-wide procedures and processes to maintain a school culture of high academic achievement and behavioral expectations.

Provide consultation to general education and special education staff regarding student needs and best practices.Monitor student progress through the collection of data.Adapt and modify the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet individual needs and to help students function as independently as possible.Meet all district, state and federal requirements including IEP and Progress Report deadlines.Remain current with accepted and appropriate instructional theory, practice and research, which includes engaging in regular and strategic professional development to stay current in best practices for diverse learners.Maintain privacy and confidentiality of student's health and medical information per State and Federal Laws.Join Our Adult CrewAt Worcester Cultural Academy, our faculty and staff collaborate and support one another and our students through a number of school-wide activities, events and celebrations.
