The Food & Beverage Plaza Director is responsible for directing, planning, and managing a travel plaza with moderately difficult operations as determined by revenue level, labor, union involvement, landlord relations, geographic span of responsibility, number of concepts, DBE Subtenants, and joint ventures. This position is accountable for achieving the site’s financial goals, and performs all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by Management. This is an exempt position and typically reports to the District Director of Plaza Operations.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • Oversees the daily operations of the travel plaza location and ensures delivery of the highest level of quality, service, sanitation, and customer relations
  • Facilitates the development and implementation of the annual budget, financial forecasts, and other business goals, and leads plaza management to ensure budgeted sales and profit goals are achieved
  • Directs plaza management to ensure compliance with applicable company standards, policies, practices, and objectives
  • Evaluates operations and seeks opportunities to continuously improve service
  • Develops, maintains, and fosters growth of brand and joint venture partner relationships
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and terminations requiring bold decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Authorizes hiring, terminations, advancement, promotion, or any other status change of plaza associates
  • Serves as a resource to others in resolution of complex problems and issues
  • Ensuring operational efficiency in every location

What Applegreen requires from our Plaza Directors:

  • Requires a High School diploma or general education development (GED) diploma, bachelor’s degree in the field of Hospitality or Restaurant Management or equivalent work experience.
  • Requires at least 5 years of management experience or management of a high volume, Food and Beverage operation.
  • Requires a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft Financials, Dashboard, Labor Pro, XBR and Micros POS system
  • Requires excellent time and project management skills, as well as demonstrated presentation skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge of product, quality, and operations standards
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate with diverse groups of associates, managers, brand partners, and the public in a variety of settings and situations.
  • Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and policy documents.
  • Requires the ability to lift or push objects weighing up to 40 lbs.

As a General Manager, you will be ready to help with a variety of duties, working on the front lines to ensure a great working environment for our cafe team members and outstanding service for our customers.

  • Assists in organizing and overseeing the business and schedules
  • Ensures cash management is accurate and processed regularly, reports are delivered as per company policies
  • Ensure restaurant standards are consistently improved in terms of housekeeping, merchandising, presentation, and service
  • Lead communication meetings with manager and team to ensure all plans are carried out
  • Addresses customer needs and resolves issues, ensuring positive and long-term customer relationships
  • Ensures inventory data is correct by performing spot inventory counts and checks
  • Ensures that the restaurant always looks clean, inviting, and adheres to brand standards
  • Support the Store Manager to achieve Gross Profit Margin, Net Margin and Sales Targets
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

What Applegreen requires from our General Managers.

  • Must have 2+ years’ experience in QSR (quick service restaurant) or similar restaurant management operations
  • Food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills with proven ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent customer service abilities and positive attitude
  • Flexible and open schedule
  • The ability and willingness to bend, twist, and stand to perform regular job functions
  • Ability and willingness to lift/push objects weighing over 40 lbs
  • Basic food safety understanding and practice
  • Proven ability to direct, motivate, and develop others in a fast-paced, friendly, environment

Assistant General Manager

As an Assistant Manager, you will be ready to help with a variety of duties that include:
