Position Objective:
Reliable Carriers is seeking a qualified Equipment Manager/Diesel Technician for our Canton Michigan office. This position is perfect for the experienced diesel tech that wants to ease off wrenching on trucks! This position will provide knowledge on trucks, trailers, breakdown issues, as well as call on trucks and trailers currently being serviced by outside vendors. This person will work on trucks and trailers as needed in an ancillary capacity. The ideal candidate will be proficient on a computer, specifically Microsoft excel for tracking and coordinating of equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage and document all equipment and driver usage of equipment.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the shop.
- Support daily equipment meetings.
- Monitor work done on equipment by outside vendors and provide status updates and reporting.
- Answer shop emails and phone calls.
- Act as a liaison between the shop and operations in regards to status of equipment and providing equipment to drivers.
- Relay information to drivers
- Work on equipment as needed during peak times.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Candidate must have solid mechanical ability. Candidate must have an ability to identify potential issues and solve them. Solid communication skills are key. This person will need to be able to think on their feet, have patience, and possess a can-do attitude, yet know when it is time to ask for assistance. Other necessary skills include:
- Excellent communication skills
- A solid understanding of MS Excel, Outlook and Word
- Strong data entry skills
- Strong proofing skills
- Ability to identify issues and trouble shoot them
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere
- Previous shop or diesel tech experience required
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED or higher preferred
Experience
- Previous shop or diesel technician experience required.
Skills:
- Microsoft products, Word, Excel, Access, Power Point.
- Proficient with computers and strong aptitude for learning new applications.
