Summary/Objective

The Financial Department Manager is a full-time position responsible for assisting the Practice Director in the development and implementation of goals, priorities, policies and procedures relating to management, budget and accounting for the financial health of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial bookkeeping of accounts payable
  • Preparing Profit & Loss statements for individual physicians
  • Developing financial dashboards for practice physicians
  • Develop and run reports on all utilized systems, such as current practice EMR, QuickBooks and ADP.
  • Monitor cash flows on a daily basis and reviews accounts payable
  • Participate in Revenue cycle and physician meetings regularly
  • Experience in submission of payroll and review reports each pay period
  • Maintain relationship with the practice's financial institution and vendors
  • Evaluate data to maximize profit while minimizing risk or expense
  • Review vendor agreements to improve practice cost efficiencies
  • Maintain current records for all practice related insurances
  • Participate in all internal and external audits
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and procedures affecting the practice
  • Communicate regularly and provide invoicing, financial tracking and any requested information to Stony Brook and Southampton Hospital organizations
  • Communicate regularly and provide any requested information to the practice's accounting firm
  • Monitor cost centers and plan projects with vendors
  • Oversee and evaluate bookkeeping staff in the Financial Department (currently at one member)

Requirements:

  • Candidate should have strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written. This individual should have strong reporting skills and be adaptable to multiple computer systems. They must be able prioritize time and manage multiple projects; be detail-oriented, self-motivated and possess strong decision-making skills.

Candidate must have a strong knowledge of accounting principles, with healthcare knowledge preferred. They must also have proficient ability in Quick Books, ADP, Excel, Word and Outlook
