Controllers must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills. Candidates should possess knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles.

Main responsibilities

  • Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions.
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
  • Managing the budget process.
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databases, as needed.
  • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance.
  • Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff.
  • Liquidity - ensuring that investors, employees, and service providers payments are made in full and on time and controlling expenses so that enough cash is on hand to meet financial obligations.
  • Reporting - financial reports including P&L for the company’s business units, balance sheets and cash flow statements
  • Expenses reduction - work closely with C-level executives in order to minimize unnecessary costs and expenses.
  • Forecasting - Making sense of the various departmental level forecasts to create profit projections for the CEO.
  • Return on investment (ROI) - Ensuring a strong return on investment (ROI) for the organizations in every aspect.
  • Department management

Duties involved in this role also include:

  • Assess and evaluate the financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plans of the organization.
  • Communicate, engage and interact with the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion (including fundraising plans).
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.
  • Review and ensure application of appropriate internal controls, compliance, and financial procedures.
  • Prepare and communicate monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Automate processes and minimize errors and manpower by implementing new technological solutions
  • Work closely with senior managers in the company in order to analyze costs and expanses and find the areas for improvements.
  • Make sure all company payments and receivables are being made on time, on budget and without mistakes.
  • Separate expenses and income of each business unit By creating better processes and reporting.
  • will be in charge of syndication reporting and fund (in the future)
  • Manage a department of 3-6 employees.

Requirements:

  • Education : Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA - an advantage
  • MBA – an advantage
  • At least 5+ years of controller experience
  • Strong preference to experience in startup (including leading forecasting)
  • Outstanding knowledge and experience with tax compliance and statutory reporting,
  • Significant experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues.
  • Experience in operating and managing teams
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking abilities
  • Outstanding communication skills, in English
