For over 40 years, Life Enrichment Advancing People (LEAP) has been supporting people with developmental, cognitive, and intellectual disabilities to be actively involved in their communities. To this end we provide small group and individualized residential services, adult case management and training services. LEAP is a private nonprofit organization with a mission to empower people with disabilities to lead joyful lives with dignity, independence, and autonomy by providing comprehensive and individualized support. Role: Finance Specialist

As a Finance Specialist with LEAP, you will be an integral part of our finance team playing a crucial role in ensuring that the organization can achieve its mission by managing its financial resources effectively and efficiently. This position will process vendor invoices and customer billings/payments using Quickbooks, submitting MaineCare Billing, updating various account analyses using MS Excel spreadsheets and other tasks as required. This position requires excellent communication and clerical skills and an ability to build productive interpersonal relationships with internal and external customers.

Individuals in this role must maintain the highest ethical standards and ensure that financial resources are used in accordance with LEAP’s organizational values and goals. Requirements:


Essential Skills and Talents for the Financial Specialist:

  • Strong Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze financial data, identify trends and patterns, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to interact with internal and external customers in a manner that builds rather than breaks down relationships and elicits voluntary assistance with requested deliverables.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adjust to the constantly changing financial landscape and adapt to new regulations, technologies and organizational priorities.
  • Basic Office Skills: Typing, filing, professional communication, email etiquette, etc.
  • Financial Management Skills: Working knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll processing and general accounting principles.

Position Profile:

  • Full-time, wage role.
  • No Direct Reports
  • Typical Monday-Friday Schedule with infrequent weekend and evening work requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Required: Highschool Degree
  • Preferred: AS or BS in accounting related field.

Experience:

  • Preferred: 1+ year of full-time work in a finance related position.

Work Conditions:

  • Work site is Leap Central Office located in Farmington, ME.
  • Full-Time schedule, 8-5 Monday through Friday. Infrequent evening, week-end work or volunteer activities may be requested.
  • Role will accommodate for remote workdays each week under normal workload conditions.
  • Central Office workspace with dedicated desk, laptop and dual monitors.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary work. Long periods of time sitting or standing at a desk. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers primarily while using mouse and keyboard. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading. Frequent ability to work alone for long periods of time.
  • Physical Manipulation of Objects: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently, to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
