Job Overview:

APTIM's Dallas, Texas office is seeking a full time Field Geologist or Environmental Scientist with experience in the implementation and oversight of spill response environmental site investigations and remedial activities. The successful candidate will possess at least two plus years experience participating in various scopes associated with environmental site assessment, technical report preparation, and demonstrate a willingness to contribute to a long-term collaborative team environment.

Experience may include but is not limited to: Applied knowledge of TCEQ Rule (RG-411 PST Program), advancement and installation of environmental soil borings and monitoring wells, collection and documentation of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, environmental permitting, installation of environmental remediation systems, implementation of both in-situ and ex-situ remedial actions, underground storage tank installation and removal, and underground storage tank system inspections, and include a working knowledge of Federal, State, and local environmental regulations. This position requires the ability to conduct field work, desktop analysis and reporting, occasional overnight travel, and application of knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Provides technical support to Retail Petroleum client in a variety of work scopes, including but not limited to: environmental site characterization, monitoring, permitting, regulatory reporting, UST system closure assessment, Phase I and II due diligence, and UST system inspections.
  • Collects and interprets soil, groundwater, and air samples.
  • Executes field work, maintains project schedule and budgetary goals, and supervises contractors.
  • Conducts work independently or as part of a project team, with the ability to adjust to rapidly changing site conditions or client requirements.
  • Executes work in a safe and conscientious manner by adhering to established health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conducts UST pulls and replacement oversight, PST closure assessments, small quantity spill response and cleanup for major Retail Petroleum Client, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Environmental Site Investigations in accordance with ASTM Standards and client requirements.
  • Supports environmental permitting and permit compliance projects.
  • Drafts technical documents to regulatory agencies on behalf of private, commercial, and industrial clients.
  • Understands technical concepts, evaluates results, and plans, reports, and ensures conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Manages own schedule and balances multiple priorities to meet help meet project targets and deadlines.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Biology, Hydrology, or related scientific field required.
  • Must have 2 to 4 years of applicable experience.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds from ground level.
  • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) certification preferred but not required.
  • Current HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Experience working in Texas geologic environments preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, scientific computer programs, and groundwater modeling preferred.
