Groot Industries currently has an opening for a Facilities Maintenance Laborer at their recycling facility located in Des Plaines, IL. Schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4pm and Saturdays from 6 am to 12 pm. A potential of up to 15 hours of overtime per week (OT will slow down during winter). Position offers $18.50 per hour depending on experience, overtime is paid at time and a half. This is a full time position that offers a comprehensive benefits package.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Scale House attendant - point of contact for customers

• Property clean up

• Yard spotter - pulling/moving trailers in yard

• Operating a street sweeper on the property

• Tarp loads

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED;

• At least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; preferred

• The ability to work outside in different work conditions

• experience with operating different types of equipment such as street sweepers and terminal tractors

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.

• Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 to 75 + pounds.

• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
