Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Journeyman Fabricator Mechanic to join our client’s team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and expertise in fabricating, assembling, and installing buildings, beams, girders and boats. The Journeyman Fabricator Mechanic will be responsible for reading and interpreting technical drawings, selecting and sourcing materials, operating various tools and equipment, and ensuring high-quality fabrication work.

Fabricator Mechanic Shift: Days, Swing, Monday - Saturday, 4 10’s, overtime

Fabricator Mechanic Pay: $30-$34/DOE

Fabricator Mechanic Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and plans to understand fabrication requirements.
  • Identify structural steel shapes, including beams, columns, and plates, as per project specifications.
  • Accurately measure and cut structural steel components to the required length using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Lay out and fit up welded or bolted details, ensuring precise alignment and adherence to design specifications.
  • Clearly indicate weld sizes, piece marks, and direction marks on fabricated steel components for reference and assembly.
  • Select and source appropriate materials for fabrication based on specifications and project needs.
  • Operate a wide range of tools and equipment, including saws, drills, grinders, welding machines, and cutting torches, to fabricate and shape materials.
  • Cut, shape, form, and weld materials to the required dimensions and specifications.
  • Assemble fabricated components into larger structures or machinery, ensuring proper alignment and fit.
  • Conduct quality checks and inspections at various stages of fabrication to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring the proper storage and handling of tools and materials.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, promoting a safe working environment for oneself and team members.

Fabricator Mechanic Requirements:

  • 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Read, understand and work from blueprints to fabricate and build.
  • Journeyman Fabricator level experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of fabrication techniques, tools, and equipment.
  • Strong welding and metalworking skills, including experience with various welding techniques (e.g., arc welding, gas welding). Flux Core required, Sub Arc a bonus. Weld test required.
  • Familiarity with different materials, such as metal, plastic, and composites, and their fabrication requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with team members.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and regulations.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Union upon permanent placement.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Ability to lift, carry or maneuver objects up to 60 lbs throughout the day.
