The Opportunity:
Ryerson Inc., one of the largest metals distributors in the US, is currently seeking Fabrication Inside Sales Associates to join our sales team in Columbus, OH. This is a transactional and relational position that works with internal and external customers in the fabrication and plate sales function.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Interpret and clarify customer provided materials such as blue prints, CAD files, and specifications.
  • Analyze tolerances, materials, and GD&T that will guide supply chain choices.
  • Collect and analyze data in order to estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required to manufacture metal products and assemblies.
  • Design part specific supply chains by utilizing internal production processes and tier 2 production processes to meet customer quality and delivery requirements.
  • Negotiate labor and delivery options with tier 2 vendor base on a part level basis.
  • Establish resale pricing for parts based on raw material and labor inputs.
  • Perform follow up calls to gain acceptance of the offer and arrive at a mutual agreement of an order.
  • Daily interaction via phone and email regarding customer needs
  • Ability to present solutions to prospective customers and win orders as well as identify additional sales opportunities with existing customers
Identify quality needs and plans such as PPAP, first article, recurring inspection, or sample based on customer communicated requirements.
  • Collaborate with multiple internal departments within the Ryerson enterprise to service customer needs.
  • Understand and communicate current market trends and customer feedback
Position Requirements:
• Bachelors degree preferred
  • 1 - 3 years fabrication sales experience in the metals industry
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with all elements of a manufacturing supply chain.
  • Blueprint reading and/or CAD and drafting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with an ERP and basic computer experience.
  • Basic financial acumen in developing cost build ups and resale price recommendations.
  • Metals and part manufacturing experience
  • Working knowledge of geometry, strong math skills, and a technical aptitude
  • Critical thinking & problem solving
  • Experience in drawing interpretation (tolerances, materials, and processes)
  • Good customer presence, professional phone acumen when calling on customers
  • Familiarity with Quality standards a plus (ISO9001)

Education Required: Bachelors Degree Preferred
