Estimator / Pre-Construction Manager

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all stages of pre-construction project life cycle
  • Develop and maintain relationships with private individuals and organizations
  • Identify labor, material, and time requirements
  • Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Represent the company as required for strategic pursuits
  • Preparation and oversight of cost estimates and bid documents for various construction pursuits in public and private sectors

· Prepare or direct the preparation of material take-off from project plans and documents

· Obtain comparative quotations for materials and sub-contractor services

· Prepare preliminary project schedules utilizing available software sufficient for estimating purposes

· Manage Request for Proposal (RFP) / bid cycles

· Schedule and coordinate site walks

· Review budget, project profitability status and goals with supervision and project teams as required

· Seek input on corrective measures to continuously improve the identification and accuracy of cost figures

· Ensure that all contract documents are complete and accurate prior to submission of the bid to the client

· Act as a resource to project management during the award / turnover phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate including materials and methods of construction

· Support business development and client development efforts as necessary

Qualifications / Required Skills

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Strong analytic abilities
  • High attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to improve processes and create efficiencies
  • Ability to identify project risks and plan/take action as needed
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills
  • Highly developed sense of professional ethics
  • Ability to work on a team as well as independently
  • Strong computer skills
  • Extensive knowledge in commercial and residential construction
  • Thorough knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, accounting, and engineering principles
  • MA CSL preferred
  • Experience in Procore preferred
  • Experience in estimating software
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong industry knowledge and ability to read blueprints

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
