Equipment Technician

Reports To: Operations Coordinator

Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt, Full-time

Position Location: Jonesboro, GA

Overview:

The Equipment Technician works to maintain our solar/electronic traffic control equipment. This Technician must be available to travel in company vehicles, and some nights out of town. Employees will train under area supervisors to learn how to deploy and service our different pieces of equipment. Prior traffic control, electrical, mechanical, forklift, and/or excavator experience is a plus.

Daily Duties:

  • Deliver & retrieve equipment from customer projects.
  • Travel in a company vehicle to repair or diagnose equipment.
  • Program, maintain, and repair message boards, arrow boards, camera trailers, Portable traffic signals, and other similar equipment.
  • Assist in loading and painting concrete barrier wall.
  • Focus on safety as the main priority.
  • Work in a shop environment as well as on interstates, highways and off-road job sites.
  • Comply with OSHA safety laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.

Position Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver s license and be willing to travel as needed.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Creative problem solver who thrives when presented with a challenge.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal property and safety regulations.
  • Strong mathematical and technical skills.
  • Attention to detail and advanced organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve practical problems, make logical decisions, and communicate ideas.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit, walk, kneel, bend, crawl, and crouch for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of machines or vehicles to exact positions.
  • Ability to judge the distances between you and an object, depth perception.
  • Ability to respond to a signal when it appears, reaction time.
  • Coordinate the use of hands, arms, and legs fully. Reach for the handle and use it to manipulate objects and materials.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Vision – the ability to see details at close range and details at distance (either naturally or with correction).
  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Mental and visual attention is necessary to effectively complete work tasks.

Environmental Conditions

  • Work outside and be exposed to the weather.
  • Wear protective or safety equipment, i.e. safety boots/shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, etc.
  • May be exposed to high levels of noise, grease, dust, and a variety of substances that are typically associated with a construction site.
