This is a full-time state position with excellent benefits located at the Chesterfield Health District.

This position supports building permit review program, marina program, septic pump out program, and sewage disposal system/private well program which include: processing building permits requests to ensure compliance with state sewage handling and disposal regulations, private wells regulations, state and district policies and local ordinances; inspecting marinas, implementing the Chesterfield County septic pump out tracking program, inspecting onsite sewage disposal systems and private wells in accordance with state and local regulations/ordinances/policies; entering and maintaining inspection reports in a database and issuing noncompliance/notice of deficiency letters. This position also has general administration responsibilities which include: preparing and/or processing County car mileage reports; monthly service reports; reimbursement forms; training forms, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
The selected applicant must be skilled in composition/preparation of report. Must have good data entry and effective communication skills, using language appropriate to the customer’s level of understanding. The selected applicant must be proficient in basic Microsoft Office computer software programs. The selected applicant must have the ability to conduct inspections and investigations in all areas of environmental health, to work outdoors and perform moderately strenuous physical labor during all seasons, and must have a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications
Work experience and/or training related to soil evaluations and/or septic permitting is preferred, but not required.

Special Requirements
All personnel of the Chesterfield Health District must have an evaluation of their immunization status within the first 10 days of employment.

Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service’s Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check and E-Verify. The selected candidate must complete a Statement of Personal Economic Interests as a condition of employment, if applicable (VA Code § 2.2-3114). Other financial, credit, driving, or other background checks prior to employment may be required for certain positions.
