Location:

This role can be fully office, remote or hybrid – a mix of office and remote. The selected candidate will be integrated into our Corporate Technical Functions group and support our Sector Leads, Business Development Leads as well Proposal Managers and Project Managers.

Position Description:

We are seeking a professional estimator with approximately 15+ years of experience and a range of knowledge and practice with environmental remediation cost estimating.
Preferred candidates will have experience leading Bid Opportunities – from reviewing Request for Proposals (RFPs) to determining means, methods and costs for completing a scope of work to technical bid proposal writing.
Preferred candidates will perform well in a leading capacity with other GES professionals and proposal support managers – all working toward a common goal of capturing new clients, work and growth.
The selected candidate will report to the Director of Engineering under the Senior Vice President of Technical Functions.

Preferred Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline
  • Approximately 15+ years of related experience
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of environmental remediation construction methods, processes and management practices with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated experience with cost estimating for remedial excavations, dewatering, sheet pile/slurry wall construction, remediation system and sub slab depressurization system construction, remedial injections, soil stabilization and/or remedial O&M and LTM
  • Demonstrated experience with reviewing and analyzing drawings, specifications and contracts for preparation of comprehensive cost estimates and risk analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with completing take-offs with an understanding of market labor and commodity conditions to develop and propose means and methods
  • Experience with preparing, issuing, receiving and review supplier and subcontractor proposals and pricing
  • Experience with attending bid walk or conducting site visits for analysis of conditions and assessment of risk
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of professionals and supporting staff, work with minimal supervision and participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Ability to manage bid files with delivery and presentation of cost estimates and technical proposals on time for management review
  • Ability to develop project controls including cost tracking and CPM schedules

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Act as the lead estimator with bid opportunity proposal efforts for Sector Leads, Business Development Leads as well Proposal Managers
  • Assess Bid Opportunities for risks and provide information to internal stakeholders for “go/no go” decisions
  • Acts as a resource for project management by providing cost information and developing cost estimates for proposal and/or changes in the work.
  • Role may include Project Manager responsibilities depending on the candidate, including preparation of project plans (Management/Execution Plans, HASP, QAPP, etc.)

Skills
  • Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, Project
  • Experience with estimating software (e.g. Bluebeam, Construction Link)
  • AutoCAD or other .dwg file management experience a plus
