Position Overview:
Navistar is currently seeking an Entry-level Engineer-Mechanical to take our business to the next level! This position is based out of our eMobility Office in Rochester Hills, Michigan, outside of Detroit.

The trucking industry is going through a dynamic phase driven by rapid advancements in areas such as autonomy, connectivity, and the ever-increasing demand for electrification.

The Product Development Engineer position will support our Research & Development organization (R&D). R&D is responsible for the design and development of the next generation of Navistar engines and vehicles, which include industry leading trucks and school buses.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for positions in Research & Development engineering may include, but are not limited to:
  • CAD Model and print creation/release in NX/Teamcenter
  • Creating Component and System Design Requirements Documents (DRDs)
  • Organizing and creating Bills of Materials (BOMs) for large assemblies
  • Support issue resolution using rigorous statistical and data driven problem-solving practices
  • Design, develop and implement validation tests on full vehicles, vehicle components and vehicle systems
  • In-vehicle testing such as durability events, skid pad, and grades on-and-off-road, hot and cold room testing, shaker lab, electrical testing, materials testing, etc.
  • Participation in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA)
  • Completion of Component and System level Design Verification Plan and Reports (DVP&R)
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
OR
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and will obtain degree prior to first day of employment
Additional Requirements:
  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)
