Entry Level Environmental Scientist

Job Description

Hampton-Clarke, Inc. (HC) is an environmental testing laboratory and construction support company with offices in Fairfield, New Jersey and Mount Laurel, New Jersey. HC has a need for entry level Environmental Scientists in our Fairfield, New Jersey office to conduct various types of field sampling activities at various construction and environmental sites.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Groundwater, wastewater and surface water sampling
• Soil and sediment sampling
• Indoor, outdoor, and sub-slab sampling
• Chip and wipe sampling
• Air monitoring
• Tabulating data, preparing tables and figures and preparing some technical reports

The position requires strong attention to detail with the ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently. The individual should have the ability to perform multiple assignments simultaneously, meet project deadlines and have excellent problem solving skills. Travel throughout the New York-New Jersey area is also required.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science with an emphasis in Geology, Environmental Science or related field.
• 0 to 2 years of experience in environmental field sampling/remediation
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry certificate a plus.
• Knowledge of NJDEP Regulations and Guidance including the NJDEP Field Sampling Procedures desirable.
• S.W.A.C. and T.W.I.C. a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Must be computer literate and have a proficiency in Word, Power Point and Excel.
• Be flexible to work some nights and weekends

Salary with benefits are commensurate with experience. Relocation is not offered.
