Miod & Company, LLP seeks an Entry-Level Accountant. This individual will apply their knowledge of accounting principles in a fast-paced environment.

As our client base continues to grow, the Litigation Services team looks to expand its numbers. This Forensic Accountant has a genuine interest in forensic accounting and litigation support services. There is also an expectation of a diverse experience ranging from accounting procedures for litigation engagements to the performance of business appraisal and valuation services. This individual is seeking an exciting, long-term career opportunity.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a full-time position, with some regularly anticipated overtime hours, as case deadlines approach. For this role, you’ll need to be able to commute to Valencia, CA and be willing to work in our co-working space in Valencia 5 days per week. Typical hours for this role are 8:30am – 5:30pm, Monday – Friday.

While repetitive tasks are certainly part of this position, the tasks assigned can vary from week to week based on the needs of the business. We expect our Staff Accountant to perform with a high level of efficiency, confidentiality, accuracy, and positivity in order to support the initiatives at Miod and Company.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Forensic Accountant will have (but are not limited to) the following primary responsibilities:

  • Perform accounting analyses required for family law litigation
  • Read, analyze, and assess the financial records
  • Tracing of Assets
  • Business Valuations
  • Real Estate Apportionment
  • Preparing Gross Cash Flows
  • Pension Plan Allocations
  • Preparing court exhibits: declarations, writing statements, and recommendations
  • Liaison with attorneys and clients through written and verbal communications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree (B.S./ B.A./BSBA) in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study. Must have prior knowledge/experience in Accounting.
  • High proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
  • Analytical – collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data; able to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Attention to Detail – pick up the smallest inconsistencies within a report
  • Problem Solving – identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; ability to troubleshoot and research; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; uses reason when dealing with emotional topics
  • Project Management – coordinates projects and communicates progress with manager; manages multiple, concurrent assignments; completes projects on time
  • Technical Skills – strives to continuously build knowledge and skills
  • Interpersonal Skills – focuses on solving conflicts and not deferring blame; maintains confidentiality
  • Written and Verbal Communication – writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information; speaks clearly; listens and gets clarification
