Framatome is seeking an Engineer I (Mechanical) for our Mill Ridge Road office in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Primary responsibilities include,:

• Create first-of-a-kind solutions to meet customer needs.
• Respond to emergent issues during inspection and maintenance activities at customer job sites.
• Prepare technical documents to support tool testing, tool qualification, tool operation.
• Prepare design specifications and fabrication / assembly documentation. Perform conceptual and detailed robotic and tooling designs utilizing SolidWorks and other CAD packages.
• Design equipment to meet rigid quality requirements and maneuver and operate in difficult environments.
• Support performance of tooling qualification and acceptance testing.
• Travel to nuclear power plants in support of field deployment of tooling in a radiological environment.
• Provide technical support for newly deployed tooling and robotics (either in-person or remotely).

Travel: May telecommute within commuting distance of the office. Domestic travel required.

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this opportunity:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Experience or education must include:

• Technical writing
• Hands on skills related to assembly of tooling and equipment
• Hands on skills related to tooling checkout and testing
• Hands on skills related to use of M&TE (Measurement and Test Equipment)
• 2D mechanical drafting techniques
• 3D CAD modeling
• Mechanical design experience
• Engineering analysis of tooling design, including stress calculations, load and deflection, statics, dynamics, and kinematics
• Knowledge of related mechanical engineering standards, techniques and criteria
• Comprehending and conveying detailed technical data
• Engineering economics (for budgeting)
• Electronics knowledge
• Materials Science

Ability to pass background check.

Our total rewards package

The range of base salary for the position is between $70,048.50 - $75,000. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
