POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Engineer Helper is to effectively and efficiently operate and maintain all HVAC, plumbing, electrical and related equipment, providing environment control to the property and to perform maintenance from tenant requests and to assist the Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer and Chief Engineer as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Essential Physical Abilities
  • Visually inspect machinery and physical property, and climb stairs
  • Climb ladders to adjust air flow and make inspections above ceiling
  • Detect emergency alarms; audible and/or visual
  • Move fifty-five gallon drums with drum dolly with another staff member
  • Able to work off an eight foot "A" frame ladder
  • Carries five gallon pails of various materials as necessary through the building

  • Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Organized ability to work in an efficient manner and multi-task with ease
  • Possess attributes including but not limited to being a highly motivated self-starter, with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form
  • Identify and resolve mechanical problems
  • Understand basic building system design and operation, (i.e. fire system, domestic water system, HVAC system, and electrical distribution system)
  • Read blueprints

  • Other
  • Building operation and maintenance experience in a Class “A” office building

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must train and test for Fire Safety Director, EAP, S12, S13 Sprinkler/Standpipe, QO1 Refrigeration, Fire Guard and Air Compressor Certifications


This position offers a payrate of $25.3610 per hour.
