PURPOSE STATEMENT

Designs, installs, optimizes, and adapts electronic control systems and instruments to automate and monitor industrial processes. Develops technical designs, process diagrams, SCADA block diagrams, and control schematics to implement automation controls. Configures systems using PLC and HMI techniques. Models, tests, and measures output and data to analyze performance or quality issues and develop solutions. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/OUTCOMES

  • Manage capital projects and provide a single point of contact for those projects Ensure assigned projects are complete and perform according to contract with established timelines, budget and quality expectations.
  • Perform all start-up/ planning, execution and closedown activities of project using the IS project management methodology.
  • Initiate concepts, develops and designs, estimates costs, formulates justifications, coordinates installations, troubleshoots startups, write operation and maintenance manuals and train required personal.
  • Support multiple plants with capital projects, troubleshooting support.
  • Develops proficiency in several programming languages and control device networks for PLCs, PCs, or DCS systems.
  • Modifies program/system logic involving multiple systems and subsystems.
  • Provide application/control systems design and development for systems of varying complexity.
  • Interacts with customers to gain an understanding of the business environment. Defines scope, plans and deliverables for assigned work.
  • Work successfully in a matrix structure; focused strongly on customer service and personal growth.
  • Develop and evaluate alternative system solutions that meet stated requirements.
  • Development of Software Functional Specifications (SFS);
  • Support equipment programming for manufacturing, troubleshoot software and hardware issues, and support programming of robots;
  • Develop our next generation controls architecture to intelligently coordinate RNA synthesis and Cellular Engineering.
  • Provide technical leadership and drive best practices in controls, electrical engineering, and industrial automation.
  • Ensure production is continuous by maintaining and implementing electrical control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and upgrade existing equipment to new equipment design and implementation.
  • Interpret control requirements from customer specifications and develop technical requirements for controls.
  • Own the controls software/hardware product lifecycle and lead instrumentation and control systems engineering projects.
  • Ensure software revisions as well as control hardware are up to date.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree required;
  • 7+ years work experience in industrial controls and system integration with a strong focus on software design and programming;
  • Proficient with Auto Cad required;
  • Refrigeration experience a plus;
  • Must be proficient with Electrical Controls principles and programming software,including Rockwell PLC/HMI;
  • .Strong technical experience with system platform in Wonderware, Wonderware Intouch;
  • Experience using, installing, and troubleshooting vision systems;
  • Networking experience including – EtherNet/IP, ControlNet, and DeviceNet;
  • Knowledge of industrial communication networks (Powerlink, EtherCAT, Profinet etc.);
  • Self-motivated, capable of setting and reaching ambitious goals;
  • Has solid verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience successfully interacting and working with customers at multiple levels of responsibility in a manufacturing or production environment;
  • Material handling or process control design, development, and troubleshooting experience;
  • Allen Bradley experience and a strong electrical background is required;
  • Experience with B&R machine automation and control platform is a must. Knowledge of other platforms, i.e. Siemens, Beckhoff, Bosch Rexroth is a plus;
  • Project management experience is required;
