The Human Resource Bureau at the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) is expanding our Employee Relations team and we are seeking to add an integrity-driven team player who loves collaboration and problem-solving! The Employee Relations team builds and maintains integral HR programs, policies, and consultative relationships with the DOT s employees and leaders to help ensure the Iowa DOT is a great place to work.

In this role, you will serve as an Employee Relations Partner and contribute your experience and knowledge toward fulfilling our Mission - Making Lives Better Through Transportation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing employee relations support, consultation, and resolution guidance for employees and leaders in the agency
  • Interpreting and developing policies/procedures related to employee relations
  • Analyzing workplace environment complaints and recommending appropriate resolutions
  • Preparing presentations and providing training on key employee relations issues based on agency goals and HR strategy
  • Serving as the agency coordinator for unemployment

Selectives

524 Personnel
6 months experience in providing human resource consultation and direction for an organization. Experience should also be in one or more of the following areas: developing agency personnel policies, approving personnel transactions, negotiating labor contracts, training personnel, recruiting and retention of personnel.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
  • A combination of a total of four years of education and full-time experience in technical or professional human resources work, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work equals one year of full-time experience.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes three years of full-time work performing technical human resources work.
