Summary: This teammate will facilitate and administer employee relations on behalf of the company.
Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Researches, interprets, and advises on employment laws and legal affairs to managers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Advises and coaches managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for performance management, employment separations, and employee grievances. Develops further training as needed.
  • Handles employee grievances, investigations, or other matters regarding employee conflict to guide and assist in resolving issues for a harmonious work environment.
  • Responds to agency complaint filings, subpoena for records, and collaborates with legal counsel as needed in the preparation and negotiation on legal matters.
  • Completes HR administrative legal tasks.
  • Uses surveys, interviews, and other studies to conduct research regarding human resource policies, compensation, and other employment issues. After analyzing the information, makes recommendations on changes.
  • Advises management of anticipated and new legislation and provide recommendations for compliance.
  • Assist with legal contract research and updates.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Employee Relations, Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Four years of professional human resource administration, including two years in employee relations preferred OR its equivalent through training, education, and other experience.
  • PHR, PHRca, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning labor relations. Experience in California is a must. Experience in other states a plus.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Understanding of negotiation techniques when dealing with conflict between employees, or when involved with legal cases.
  • Thorough understanding of dispute resolution.
  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.
