Due to ongoing construction, this summer's summer academy for Hayward Elementary will be based out of Lowell Elementary.

Program Description

The Elementary Summer Academy is a six-week program designed for students who have completed kindergarten, first, and second grade in any elementary school in the SFSD. The design of the Summer Academy is to support students' academic skills as they strive for proficiency. Students who have experienced a gap in learning based on NWEA MAP will have the opportunity to attend the Summer Academy. Instruction will focus on reading and math skills along with the opportunity to work on engaging and authentic hands-on activities providing a rich summer experience focused on educational and experiential opportunities. Student growth will be measured by NWEA MAP winter to winter assessment.

The summer program will be hosted at nine (9) Sioux Falls School District school sites. Anticipated school sites include Garfield, Lowell, Hawthorne, Laura B. Anderson, Terry Redlin, and Anne Sullivan. Additionally, Discovery will host west-side non-title schools as well as Hayward. Cleveland will host its students as well as east-side non-title schools. Finally, Eugene Field will host non-title sites in the central part of the city.

Requirements

Excellent communication skills: phone, email, and face-to-face. Familiarity with SFSD computer programs. Knowledge of Google Docs.

Salary Schedule

2022-2023 Clerical Staff Salary Schedule - Level KX, starting at $21.10 per hour

Pay Day

Last working day of each month.

Student hours: 8:30am - 2:00pm
Clerical hours: 8:00am - 2:30pm
