ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN I
within The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District.

Future Salary Increases
** July 2023 - 5.53% increase to base pay (2.75% Across-the-Board + 2.78% Market Increase)

The San Diego County Air Pollution Control District has openings for Electronic Instrument Technician I. Positions in this job classification are assigned to the Air Pollution Control District (APCD), which is located in the Clairemont Mesa/Kearny Mesa/Scripps Ranch area of San Diego (10124 Old Grove Road, San Diego, 92131). This is an excellent entry level job opportunity for persons with a background in electronics. An Electronic Instrument Technician I installs, performs operational tests, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs air-quality monitoring equipment in the shop or in the field. Hiring Timeline & Dates

  • Job Offer and Background Process begins in May 2023. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possession of an associate's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in electronics; OR;
  • One (1) year of experience installing, inspecting, operating, and repairing analog and/or digital electronic equipment and recording devices for an industrial or public service agency, AND, thirty (30) semester units of college level coursework in electronics or a closely related field; OR;
  • Two (2) years of experience installing, inspecting, operating, and repairing analog and/or digital electronic equipment and recording devices for an industrial or public service agency. Previous experience must have included inspecting, operating, and repairing air quality monitoring equipment.

Condition of Employment

Evaluation
The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a Four (4 ) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information provided on the employment and supplemental applications.
