Electron Microscopist / Mineralogist / Materials Scientist
Asbestos TEM Laboratories, the leading lab in the United States in the field of naturally occurring asbestos and other particulate material analysis has an opening for a highly skilled Transmission Electron Microscopist / Mineralogist. Position duties include: transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis of particulate found in air, water, dust, soil, rock, building materials and other commercial products, identification of minerals and particulate morphology, generation of detailed testing reports, being a resource for other TEM analysts, tracking of TEM performance, interfacing with management, and various other related activities. Knowledge of TEM material/mineral identification methods including selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) techniques required. Knowledge of polarized light microscopy and powder X-ray diffraction is a plus. Minimum Bachelors degree in physical or biological sciences required - i.e. mineralogy, material science, crystal physics or biology.

Asbestos TEM Laboratories has been in business over 30 years and has a large TEM facility with numerous electron microscopes and skilled TEM analysts. Our company is located near the Oakland/Emeryville border with great freeway access to the East Bay and San Francisco. Occasional overtime required. Salary dependent on experience.

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
