Position Summary

***MUST have CA Juorneyman Certification***

The Electrical Foreman is primarily responsible for supervising and coordinating all the workings at a job site including that of a crew of electricians and apprentices. An individual in this role will establish and adjust work timelines to meet the construction schedule for the project and organize and coordinate all project materials and equipment. The Foreman will also ensure that all work installed is completed in accordance with the standards set forth by Pacific Power & Systems – all work will be completed on budget, on time, and in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.

Key Accountabilities/Measurables

The success of this role can be gauged by the following metrics:

1. Work is performed safely with all required precautions taken and required reviews documented,

2. Work is efficiently planned and executed to attain targeted personnel hours utilizing a consistently mapped three-week look ahead,

3. Well planned work is demonstrated by material orders being placed no more than once per week,

4. Only documented and client approved deviations from scope as approved by project management are permitted to maximize project profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

An individual in this role is a professional and personable leader, committed to the success of projects and the organization, demonstrated by performing the following duties, where other applicable duties or responsibilities may be assigned from time to time:

1. Plans and organizes on-site project staff requirements to maximize productivity and efficiency,

2. Reviews proposal specifications, drawings and estimates to understand scope of work required and most effective methods of approaching the project,

3. Manages the field staff working on the project to ensure appropriate manpower and maximum productivity,

4. Ensures that all staff on site conduct and document required safety reviews,

  • Provides material take-offs for electrical facilities equipment requirements,
  • Constructs electrical control panels, and completes rough and finish wiring and control systems,
  • Ensures that system components and wiring are installed in compliance with local and federal codes,
  • Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electrical control circuits for motors and control devices for various electrical devices,
  • Schedules critical and non-critical activities to ensure project success,
  • Schedules, mentors, and manages assigned apprentice electricians,
  • Directs, counsels, trains and coaches assigned staff,
  • Tests installed and repaired equipment for proper performance, completeness, and functionality,
  • Keeps detailed and accurate project reports and documentation, including as-builts, 3-week look ahead, RFIs, material orders, and job-site change events.

Education and/or Experience

To successfully perform and execute the requirements of this role, the individual must hold or exhibit the following qualifications:

MUST be a CA Certified Electrician with a current Journeyman card.

Proficiency in department’s computer system and department software is necessary, including Windows Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Accubid Estimating,

  • Good at mathematics,
  • Good organization/administration skills,
  • Educational requirements include a construction/engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience,
  • Ability to assume responsibility and to interface and communicate effectively with others, have strong interpersonal skills and be self-motivated,
  • Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites,
  • 10-15+ years of estimating experience, preferably industrial,
  • Knowledge of construction costs and budgets,
  • Strong computer background, including experience with estimating software, experience with MC2 considered an asset,
  • Ability to act as a facilitator and mentor, moves the team forward, may be a team leader or conduct performance management meetings for supporting or professional staff,
  • Ability to problem solve, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in a time-sensitive environment.

Health & Safety Responsibilities

An individual in this role is responsible with ensuring that work is performed within the established policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization and applicable legislation. The individual ensures that all safety documentation is displayed as required and available at site locations and fulfills the Health & Safety requirements for Managers and Supervisors as detailed in the organizations’ Health & Safety program.

Language Skills

An individual in this role must be able to create written reports and instructions/procedures and to deliver coaching, training, and other interactions verbally to clients and staff. Frequent face to face interaction with clients, general contractor representatives, and other staff is required.

Mathematical Skills

Proven skills to deal with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to compute percentages, costs, gross margins, and gross profit dealing with WIP, material estimates and deadlines.

Certificates, Licenses and Registration

An electrician license valid for the respective geographic region.

Technical / Software Skills

Proficiency with PDF documents, MS Word and MS Excel is required.

Physical Demands

The individual is frequently required to walk, stand, reach, and crouch. Frequent use of hands with dexterity is required to operate tools. Frequent ladder climbing and working at heights is required.

Work Environment

The environments are typically construction sites as varying degrees of completion where exposure varies with the degrees of hazards potentially present. Protective headwear, footwear, ear protection and eye protection are usually necessary, depending on circumstances. The walking surfaces can vary from uneven dirt with excavated areas to loose gravel to hard concrete floors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75.00 - $130.00 per hour
