Southwire Job Description
The Electrical Construction Designer will evaluate large complex engineered construction design documents and produce jobsite electrical installation design drawings based on innovative and efficient practices. The individual will be responsible for applying engineering knowledge, concepts, and experience to size, evaluate, select, and specify raceway and wire routing for electrical power, lighting, and auxiliary systems in accordance with relevant codes and standards. He or she will utilize existing custom Southwire technology tools as well as industry BIM/VDC tools and technologies.

- Leverage Southwire’s Contractor Solutions to provide next level of innovation in the electrical industry
- Directly Interface with the most highly respected and innovative electrical construction companies in North America
- Key contributor to building Southwire’s state-of-the-art best in class construction technology platform.
- Provide high value to customer stakeholders by directly contributing to construction jobsite safety and efficiency
- Develop prefabricated manufactured wiring solutions to meet the needs of today’s ever changing construction delivery methods
- Evaluates, engineers, selects, and specifies raceway and wiring installation methods for the electrical construction on a project.
- Engage in the development of field installation design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
- Prepare and revises documentation in various phases of design and construction, including plans, diagrams, and details.
- Provide wire routing design as well as wire BOM to provide efficient building wire installation.
- Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models of electrical systems.
- Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and distributor.
- Provides guidance and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents and contractor preferences.
- Conducts quality assurance and implements quality control frameworks on own projects.
- Strong knowledge of Southwire’s value proposition to drive specification of Southwire Solutions.
- Must be able to adjust to changing schedules and deadlines as needed to meet contractor job requirements.
- Strong collaboration skills working in a team environment
