Early Morning Barista Job at Mariano's

Thank you for your interests in joining our team at the Vernon Hills Mariano's. We are currently looking to add to our Vero coffee shop team. Previous barista experience is not required, but appreciated. Ideal candidates will have a passion to learn and gross, and weekend availability. Canidates for both opening (5:30AM) and closing (8:00pm) shifts are both desired.

Position description

Responsible for demonstrating a love of food and passion for people that includes incredible Customer Service and performance excellence through department knowledge and technical expertise. As a Food Service member, the Food Service Clerk promotes and delivers a shopping experience focused on providing customers the level of service to which we have publicly committed by providing efficient service through hands-on knowledge of all Food Service products. The Food Service Clerk adheres to organizational procedures, policies and systems including food quality standards and food safety and sanitation guidelines. The Food Service Clerk is focused on driving sales through suggestive selling, sampling and promoting sales events.

 Basic product handling skills

 Assists with product production, packaging, presentation, rotation, replenishment

 Ensures in-stock position of available product

 Maintains high cleanliness standards – clean as you go, inclusive of washing, cleaning, sweeping, mopping

 Working knowledge of all Food Service equipment

 Demonstrates high level of operational execution

 Fast paced and exhibits sense of urgency

 Working knowledge of Food Service legal,

safety, and sanitation SOP’s

 Consistent execution of all Food Service SOP’s

3. Performance Focus – Assists financial results in Sales and Shrink Management.

 Accomplished SELLING skills results in additional sales

 Suggestive SELLS sales event products

 Communicates code dating issues

 Communicates Shrink opportunities

 Monitors product quality to reduce Shrink

4. Planning Focus –

 Plans SELLING product for each scheduled shift

 Plans work duties appropriately during scheduled shift to accomplish all assigned tasks

 Identifies department opportunities during scheduled shift and responds accordingly

Functional Requirements:

 Interpersonal Skills – Mental– demonstrated success in the areas of energy, initiative, judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction memorization, reading, writing, math, effective communications, problem solving

 Product Skills – general knowledge of all product in packaged, refrigerated, frozen and dry products department

 Process Skills – demonstrated understanding of all packaged, refrigerated, frozen and dry products functions

 Analytical Skills – basic understanding of math

 Physical Skills – Frequent ability to lift/carry 3 to 60 lbs., push/pull 500 to 1500 lbs., walking on uneven ground, turning, standing, reaching, stooping/bending. Use of slicers, knives, pallet jack, box cutter, scales, wrapper, ovens, compactor, highboy cart, tongs, register, steamer, slicer, wrapper, knives

 Physical Skills – Occasional: Lifting/carrying more than 60 lbs., equipment operation (compactor, coffee pot, ice machine).

 Education or Experience – Minimum High school education or currently enrolled

 Environmental – Exposure to colder temperatures – Coolers and Freezers (-20 to 40 degrees)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $13.40 - $15.10 per hour
