To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a dependable, motivated professional to join our team as a Dispatcher Trainee. Piedmont is seeking Dispatcher Trainees who desire to become a Piedmont Dispatcher. Dispatchers at Piedmont are responsible for planning and monitoring all Piedmont flights, and for ensuring all flights are conducted in accordance with the company’s policies, procedures, and applicable regulations. Piedmont Dispatchers report to the Senior Manager of Flight Operations.
Trainees should be prepared to attend training at company headquarters in Salisbury, MD. Successful trainees will receive a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) dispatch certificate as part of the training process. This certificate will be funded by the company.
Essential Duties:
  • Plan all company flights and file the flight plans with the FAA
  • Ensure that the pilots have all necessary information for the safety of the flight
  • Utilize software to monitor the progress of the flight and notify the pilots of anything that may adversely affect the safety of the flight
Job Qualifications and Competencies:
  • At least 23 years of age
  • Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
  • Pass the required knowledge and practical tests to obtain an aircraft dispatcher certificate
  • Possess excellent knowledge of US geography
  • Computer literacy
  • Problem solving skills
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Multi-tasking and adaptability
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous airline experience
  • Current Piedmont team member with 6 months of experience
Work Environment:
  • Standard office environment, use of computers and other office equipment
  • Able to report to operations control center in Salisbury, MD (SBY)
  • Available to work any shift including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Non-Exempt
Physical Requirements:
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
