The centerpiece of the Seaport District’s renaissance is an entirely re-imagined historic Tin Building, featuring a one-of-a-kind Marketplace and entertainment venue operated by renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.

The Tin Building by Jean Georges will feature multiple unique venues: Several full-service restaurants, fast casual and counter dining outlets as well as 10,000 sf of retail featuring private label products, grab and go, grocery and CPGs. To support this significant operation the Marketplace will feature a large commissary kitchen and bakery, as well as an exhibition kitchen that will provide media opportunities.

POSITION SUMMARY
Lead development, implementation and execution of the procurement strategy and day-to-day operations for the Tin Building by Jean-Georges.
You and your team are accountable for ensuring that the Tin Building consistently meets or exceeds its financial targets, as these relate to procurement, including the cost of goods, inventory management and margin contributions.
You and your team ensure an effective and efficient procurement system and process to identify and maintain the highest quality suppliers with the highest ethics and integrity while continually seeking to optimize the monetary value and quality that the Tin Building consistently derives from its vendors.
You are the guardian of the department standards, in terms of product, set by the Jean-Georges Management Team.
The procurement scope includes all product categories across the Tin Building, including food and beverage for restaurant operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement and oversee consistent execution against the Tin Building procurement vision and strategy.
  • Develop, implement and manage procurement systems and processes to ensure the Tin Building meets its strategic, financial and operational targets and objectives for all procurement categories and activities.
  • Develop, implement and manage the Tin Building sourcing and supplier strategies and relationships to ensure optimal business results and the highest ethics and integrity for all operations.
  • With the Directors of Retail, Restaurant and QSR play a lead role in managing the Tin Building’s profit & loss (P&L) to ensure financial targets are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Drive efficiencies and continuous improvement across the end-to-end procurement process.
  • Ensure the Procurement function and team consistently meet or exceed their targets, goals, and objectives.
  • Constantly educate yourself on the latest fine food trends, local and global.
  • Be at the forefront of culinary trends, secure exclusive product launches, and plan new ideas and strategies for new product launches.
  • Develop the Jean-Georges brand in line with comparable Fine Food labels like Fauchon, Harrods, etc.
  • Act effectively as a Tin Building management team senior member, making critical leadership contributions in business areas beyond your immediate responsibility.
  • Other tasks, projects, and initiatives as per business needs.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • 7+ years prior experience in a retail procurement role or related area. Ideally in an high-end environment.
  • Passion for Fine Food products.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Comfortable in both a leadership and team-player role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and projects at hand.
  • Ability to remain organized in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
  • Creative problem solver who thrives when presented with a challenge.
  • Strict adherence to company philosophy/mission statement/sales goals.
  • Competent proficiency in Microsoft Office and overall computer skills

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays, as required
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 10 – 30 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand for prolong periods of time
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the store. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment
  • Climbing steps regularly.

The base pay range for this position is $125,000.00 - $175,000.00 per annum. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications and skills, etc.
