POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Director of New Teacher Development is responsible for leading Matchs Associate Teacher Program supporting the development and success of Matchs 1st and 2nd year teachers across the schools. Match possesses a wealth of curriculum resources for developing new teachers. The Director of New Teacher Development will lead the implementation of that curriculum with each of Matchs three schools.

The Match Associate Teacher Program is a residency for aspiring teachers with 1-2 years of experience who want to have an incredible year of learning and growth inside a host teachers classroom at Match Charter Public School. Fifteen (15) Match Associate Teachers (MATs) are placed on grade level (K-5th) or subject level (6th-12th) teams for an intensive, year-long apprenticeship. Throughout the year, the MATs receive coaching and gradually take on more teaching responsibilities. The Director of New Teacher Development will apply their experience as a results-oriented educator to provide professional development and individual coaching to improve MAT effectiveness and accelerate their learning.

The Director of New Teacher Development will work collaboratively with host teachers and leaders in order to ensure that the MAT Program is integrated into the schools effectiveness as a whole.The Director of New Teacher Development will also provide professional development opportunities and support to 1st and 2nd year teachers in conjunction with the schools instructional leaders. The position is based out of the Match Network Support Office, located on 215 Forest Hills St. in Jamaica Plain. The person in this position will also regularly work at our three school locations: Match High School on 1001 Commonwealth Ave.

in Brighton, Match Middle School on 215 Forest Hills St. in Jamaica Plain, and Match Community Day (PreK-5) on 100 Poydras St. in Hyde Park.The Director of New Teacher Development will report directly to Matchs Chief Executive Officer. The compensation for this position starts at $116,000 and can be higher based on prior experience.

DIRECTOR OF NEW TEACHER DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIESNew Teacher Support-Design and execute bi-monthly professional development on instructional best practices that prepare MATs and 1st/2nd year teachers to be effective in classrooms;-Work in collaboration with host teachers and school leaders to ensure that new teachers have responsibilities and schedules that support their development as teachers; -Observe and give feedback to MATs via weekly observations and check-ins;-Provide direct support and feedback to host teachers based on classroom visits;-Support and inform new teacher evaluations;-Help ensure new teacher professional presentation, timeliness, and behavior exemplify Match values and standards. MAT Logistics-Support school leader and host teacher in MAT placement and schedule development at the beginning of the year and adjust as necessary throughout the year;-Work in collaboration with the Principal and Operations Director to ensure that MAT schedules and responsibilities are accurate and detail-oriented. Recruitment-Conduct interviews and observations in order to recruit and select MATs for the following year;-Meet regularly with the recruitment team to give feedback on candidates and brainstorm ways to recruit high-caliber candidatesQUALIFICATIONSResearch has shown that people of color and women are less likely to apply for jobs if they dont believe they meet every one of the qualifications described in a job description.
