The brand new Sushi Lab FL is NOW OPEN in the Residence Inn Marriott Pompano Beach/Oceanfront. This beachfront restaurant features an intimate chef's counter where you can experience an innovative omakase dining experience with fresh, locally and internationally sourced fish. Additional indoor and outdoor seating featuring izakaya, sushi and maki offerings. Sushi Lab FL offers a great selection of signature handmade cocktails, imported sakes and Japanese whiskeys to enjoy by the waterfront.

We are currently seeking a Director of Food and Beverage that will lead all aspects of our restaurant operations. An enthusiastic, detailed-oriented, and service focused leader to deliver an exceptional dining experience. To be successful in this role, you will need extensive experience in both front and back of the house and a proven track record of success. Your management skills should include the acumen to grow revenues, improve profitability, and maintain high production, productivity, quality, and standards. The Director of Food and Beverage must lead by example and uplift our staff during busy moments in our fast-paced environment. Ultimately, you will ensure our restaurant runs smoothly and customers have pleasant dining experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate daily Front of the House and Back of the House restaurant operations.
  • Respond efficiently and accurately to customer complaints.
  • Regularly review product quality and research new vendors
  • Organize and supervise shifts.
  • Appraise staff performance and provide feedback to improve productivity.
  • Estimate future needs for goods, kitchen utensils and cleaning products.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.
  • Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it.
  • Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste.
  • Create detailed daily shift reports.
  • Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events.
  • Recommend ways to reach a broader audience (e.g., targeted campaigns and social media)
  • Train new and current employees on proper customer service practices
  • Implement policies and protocols that will maintain future restaurant operations.

Skills

  • Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager or Restaurant General Manager. Minimum 5 years of combined experience in these positions.
  • Extensive food and beverage knowledge, with ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform customers and wait staff.
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software, OpenTable, Toast and Micros software preferred.
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills
  • Acute financial management skills
  • BS degree in Business Administration; hospitality management or culinary schooling is a plus.
