New Horizons Healthcare is seeking a full-time Director of Behavioral Health providing leadership for the development, implementation, management, and daily operations of our health center’s integrated, primary care behavioral health program. This position is an advocate for integrated care and works collaboratively with key staff in clinical and administrative areas to promote integrated care best practices.

New Horizons Healthcare is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) in Roanoke, Virginia that provides comprehensive primary care, behavioral health, dental care, and pharmacy services for almost 10,000 patients annually. The Director is responsible for facilitating partnerships between patients, clinicians, and healthcare teams with a focus on care coordination and integration of treatment. In the clinical role, the Director will provide integrated behavioral health care services as a member of the healthcare team. In the administrative role, the Director will oversee mental health and substance use providers who are part of the healthcare team, as well as behavioral health support staff. The Director will continuously monitor and adapt care delivery to ensure patient access to high quality, evidence-based behavioral health services and team-based care.
The Director is responsible for being the thought leader for New Horizon’s behavioral health services and the champion for data-driven, innovative evolution of an effective and sustainable model of behavioral health integration, ensuring that senior leaders are adequately informed to make strategic decisions and/or shift priorities. The Director is also available as a resource for consultation on other inter-departmental and agency needs as indicated and will work collaboratively with clinical and organizational leadership, as well as community partners and stakeholders in line with department needs and objectives.
Qualifications of the successful candidate for this position include: Licensed Clinical Psychologist, OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker, OR Licensed Professional Counselor, OR Licensed Medical Family Therapist; at least 3 years in a leadership position with solid supervisory and practice management experience, preferably managing diverse cross-disciplinary teams; familiarity with and commitment to behavioral health integration and a collaborative, patient-centered care models; experience with Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) for treatment of opioid addiction; excellent people skills with an ability to develop, coach, and retain high functioning teams; superior written and verbal communication skills; must possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the New Horizons’ mission; prefer experience in program and practice management and evaluation, data tracking, analysis, and reporting, as well as strategic planning and budget and resource development.
