Responsibilities:

You will join a team to execute projects with FORVIS clients in the nonprofit industry from planning and procedures performed to the writing deliverables to the client. You will participate in client meetings, internal meetings, and project development. Projects could include grants management, accounting services, consulting, forecasting/projections, outsourced/interim controller responsibilities, and overall problem solving for FORVIS clients related to their financial systems, processes, and records.

The successful candidate will be an independent worker with excellent project management and time management skills and knows when and how to keep the engagement executive apprised of client status and how to escalate issues.


How you will contribute:

  • Working on a variety of financial, accounting, and compliance projects, with a primary focus on the nonprofit industry
  • Overseeing overall project management including planning, supervising, and executing consulting projects in the areas of process improvement, operational assessments, compliance, and financial reporting
  • Reviewing and/or assisting with outsourced accounting services including:
    • General ledger and financial statement preparation
    • Monthly and year-end closing assistance
    • Account and bank reconciliations
    • Audit preparation services
  • Participating and leading projects evaluating Federal and State grant compliance and other compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Ability to review organization's processes, policies, procedures, and internal controls in order to perform an operational assessment of client's finance and related functions.
  • Performing operational and financial assessments of client’s grants management compliance and finance department's processes, policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Experience with interviewing personnel in a 1 on 1 setting to learn policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with the development of policies and procedures
  • Leading engagement relationships with appropriate levels of client interaction; managing calendar/meetings for client and team interactions
  • Managing calendar/meetings for client and team interactions
  • Performing industry and technical research for the development of new client solutions
  • Utilizing technology and best practices to improve internal processes
  • Assisting with new business development, growing our client relationships, qualifying leads, and scoping opportunities. Ability to utilize social media and outlook for mail merge/email blast/postings preferred
  • Assisting with managing, developing, and coaching professional staff

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 8-10 years or more of accounting and/or consulting experience with at least 3 years of experience in public accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Accounting and/or consulting experience within the nonprofit industry


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA license or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam
  • Experience with QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Financial Edge, Intacct,bill.com, Expensify, stripe, PayPal
  • Experience with Raisers Edge, Microsoft Dynamics, AbilaMIP, NetSuite, Xero, SAGE 50
  • Private industry accounting department management role
  • Team management experience
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or related field
