Role

Community First Credit Union is seeking a dynamic leader to develop and implement comprehensive diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and manage subsequent initiatives, programs, and processes to foster a culture of inclusion. Reporting to the SVP of Human Resources, the Director will partner with leaders across the organization, leading through influence to successfully implement programs, tools, and processes focused on instilling DE&I principles and practices into the credit union’s culture, products, and philanthropy.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Translate strategies into tactical plans with clear actions, accountability, and goals to promote best in class equitable DEI practices.

Provide consultation to improve our organization’s environment, ensuring we foster a culture that is inclusive, innovative, and willing to take risks that proactively leverage multiple dimensions of diversity.

Partner with internal and external resources to craft, implement and facilitate DE&I education, workshops, experiences, and discussions to improve cultural awareness, inclusive practices and drive understanding of inclusion to support equity. Develop training opportunities to educate employees and managers on how to recognize, accommodate and appreciate individual differences and how these can be leveraged in meeting organizational goals.

Develop Supplier Diversity policies and procedures to increase procurement of services that support local and diverse business enterprises.

Collaborate with HR and leaders on sourcing, hiring and retaining diverse candidates by connecting with professional organizations and leveraging social media and community connections. Develop programs to attract, retain, and promote a diverse workforce.

In partnership with communication and marketing teams, develop communication strategy and key messages to tell CFCU's DEI story internally and externally.

Build pro-active relationships within the organization and within the community through partnerships, memberships and networking with cross-functional subject matter experts to ensure alignment and focus on DEI in all practices.

Research, develop and analyze metrics and dashboards to measure the effectiveness of diversity initiatives and prepare reports to senior management on the value of the initiatives. Assist in leveraging data to inform internal and external audiences and inform organizational decisions.

Keep current on DE&I topics, trends, and issues and proactively incorporate new DE&I information into programming and organizational initiatives. Actively promote the mission and purpose within the organization and throughout the communities we serve.

Lead activities and promote the growth and development of action plans, goals, and strategies of the DEI Council and future employee resource groups.

Education and Background

Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, human resources, business or related disciplines. Professional Diversity certification such as Certified Diversity & Inclusion Executive (CDE) or Certified Diversity & Inclusion Professional (CDP) preferred

Three to five years professional work experience in workplace diversity, equity, inclusion & culture.

Demonstrated success in developing and implementing workplace equity and inclusion initiatives. Experience in change management and successfully facilitating organization wide change initiatives.

Excellent written, verbal communications and presentation skills required

Excellent project management and organizational skills required

Must be able to work independently, exercise good judgment, and be able to work with minimal supervision

Candidate must be collaborative, creative, self-aware, and skilled in influence.

Strong analytical skills and ability to translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy

Proven influence and relationship building skills with internal and external partners and people from various backgrounds and cultures

Physical Requirements

Must be able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers etc. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site for occasional meetings, conferences, training etc. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
