The Community Impact and Investment team creates impactful community outcomes and positions Capital One as the most strategically bold, innovative, and mission driven financial institution through:
fueling strategic community investments (e.g. grants, skills, loans)
delivering insights, advice and resources that inform Capital One’s products and services
activating the capabilities of “impact forward” associates
The Community Impact and Investment team supports Capital One through leading enterprise volunteerism, conducting market research, fostering community relationships, grant making, originating CDFI loans and partnering with and advising LOBs.
The Opportunity and Role:
Community Impact and Investment is kicking off a multiyear transformation to increasingly align business strategy and social impact; launch new, different, and more holistic approaches to investing in our communities; use Capital One’s volunteer time and talent in increasingly strategic ways; and use data, analytics, research, and inclusive design to inform more targeted and actionable consulting to our business partners on topics related to a broad view of financial inclusion.
We’re seeking a talented and energetic Director to join our Associate Enablement team, leading Activation. The Activation team is charged with fostering a culture of service and volunteerism across the enterprise by building, testing and deploying services to empower our “impact forward” associate base to engage with the community. This is a team of changemakers who seek to empower our associate base to give back by meeting our associates where they are, and delivering the programming and tools they need to easily mobilize their interests, talents and skills in the community. Flexibility to travel up to 20%.
In this role, you’ll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in four key areas:
Human Centered
You’ll lead sourcing and synthesis of customer discovery efforts to understand associate and executive volunteerism needs to drive the long term vision for your set of volunteerism products
You’ll turn these customer insights into actionable strategies that will define the priorities for your team and rally your stakeholders to your vision
You’ll own and prioritize the long-term (12-18 months) volunteerism product roadmap to deliver on business outcomes, and then you’ll deliver the tooling, resources, programming and interaction models that bring those volunteerism products to life.
Test, Learn and Scale
You’ll deliver volunteerism solutions that support both always on, enterprise-wide virtual engagement opportunities and targeted “weeks” or “seasons” of enterprise service.
You’ll develop a self-service model “Center of Excellence” for hyper-local engagement (ex: Highlight the Impact Initiative, guidance on non-exempt volunteer processes/approvals, how to search for local opportunities, how to record personal volunteerism, etc.)
You’ll test net new programs (e.g., a sabbatical program) or test the evolution and improvement of existing programs (e.g, donor matching or Board placement and service)
Running the team with a Business Mindset
You’ll develop a strategy that defines what it means for COF to have a culture of service and how do we build towards that vision.
You’ll develop quantitative metrics, tooling, and reporting to monitor associate engagement in the community, including which engagements are qualified to meet our regulatory requirements
You’ll define KPIs for your tools, programs and interaction models and will be responsible for measuring and tracking to those measures, with an eye to adjusting and refining your roadmap as the data dictates
You’ll regularly evaluate and improve the efficiency of our community engagement approach, as well as the operational model used to deliver the value

Prior tech and engineering team management is not a qualification for this role.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or military experience
At least 5 years of experience working in a for-profit company
At least 3 years of experience in program management, at least 3 years of experience in project management, or a combination
At least 3 years of human centered design experience
At least 3 years of product launch experience
At least 5 years of experience in people leadership
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in process management
Experience in volunteerism, talent engagement and morale experience
Community organizing, nonprofit, or political experience

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Location is New York City: $202,400 - $231,000 for Director, Project ManagementCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
