Vanderheyden has openings for Direct Care Supervisors to assist the House Manager in our Rensselaer, Schodack, Troy, and Averill Park locations supervising a supportive apartment program by supervising staff and facilitating individuals receiving services to acquire independence skills and self-esteem needed to establish and achieve personal goals.

  • Develops, Maintains and utilizes a sound working knowledge of regulations of

· governing agency.

  • Sound working knowledge of Vanderheyden policies, practices and systems.
  • Knowledge of Vanderheyden mission.
  • Working knowledge of management practice.
  • Adheres to the DSP Code of Ethics.
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet the OPWDD Core Competency standards and ability to observe and provide feedback to others on performance of OPWDD Core

· Competency standard within OPWDD programs.

  • Successfully completes all required trainings.
  • Maintains current with all required trainings.
  • Safely transports individuals as assigned per level of supervision required.
  • Provides direct support to individuals as needed and necessary.

Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:

3 year’s experience as a Direct Support Professional or Associates Degree preferably in the Human Service field preferably with a similar population

Abilities and Working Conditions:

· Must be available to work a minimum 40 hour work week

· Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

· Must be able to stand and run for moderate periods of time

· Must have a valid NYS driver's license with a clean MVR

· Must be able to perform physical interventions and maintains SCIP and/or TCI certification

· Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population

· Maintains medication administration certification per program standards

· Work weekend and evening hours as outlined in schedule

· Can adequately communicate orally and in writing.

· Basic computer literacy

· Promotes and supports cultural diversity and is sensitive to those served.
