University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds. We are currently seeking qualified professionals with active/clear license in the state of Florida. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is required.


Director of Admissions Behavioral Health
Under the general supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, this position is responsible for the patient intake process: implementing, monitoring, and evaluating that process. The Director is responsible for all patient intake calls; providing information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professional staff (physicians, consulting professionals) requesting information regarding potential admissions, developing and/or maintaining relationships with ongoing sources of referral to alternate treatment sources when appropriate.

Essential Job Duties
:
  • Monitors all Intake Calls received during the day, after hours (including weekends) and ensures follow up by department staff on all calls and internet inquires
  • Obtains clinical information on potential patients. Determines provisional diagnosis. Interprets clinical information for clinical assessment. Conducts assessments accordingly
  • Initiates verification of insurance coverage to determine viability of insurance for individuals seeking admission and being admitted
  • Coordinates admissions with MDs and facility staff. Manages day/time/MD slots for admissions
  • Assists in the location of an available, suitable treatment resource when the patient is not appropriate for the clinical program at UBC
  • Maintains intake reports and provides pending admission information to Daily Operations
  • Manages waiting lists as programs become full to ensure that bed openings are utilized efficiently
  • Monitors condition in the facility that adversely affects the Patient Intake Process and reports these to appropriate individuals
  • Proposes new policies and procedures that will make the Patient Intake Process smoother and more comfortable for patients
  • Compiles special reports, such as, for marketing, administration, daily operations, etc. as requested
  • Interviews, hires, develops, counsels, disciplines, and terminates staff as necessary, following all hospital human resources policies

Qualifications:
  • Education: Master’s degree from an accredited university in a human service area or RN licensure from an accredited school and at least two years of experience in mental health field
  • Experience: Minimum two-years of Clinical experience in psychiatric setting; situational evaluation and crisis intervention experience preferred
  • License/Certification: Current license from the State of Florida: such as LCSW, LMFT, LMHC; or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Skills: Above average communication skills, high level of initiative, motivation, independent judgement, and organizational skills. Ability to relate to those emotionally disturbed and in crisis
  • Physical Requirements: Medium demand, mentally. Requires extensive sitting, writing, and talking on telephone. Ability to assist in crisis intervention, physical intervention with patients
  • Other: Performs other duties as may be assigned by CEO.
