St. Croix Health is seeking Dietary Aides to join our growing team! This position would work either 20, 24 or 36 hour a week. Our Nutrition Services department is staffed from 5:30am to 7:30pm, seven days a week. Job Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting service of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient meals, cafeteria clientele and catered functions. The Dietary Aide performs manual dishwashing and general cleaning.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Fills and delivers stock orders (supplies needed for all departments in their areas and kitchens) for each department requesting items.

  • Stock order sheets that are completed
  • Stock supplies, such as food or utensils, in serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, or salad bars.

2. Operates dish machine and performs manual dishwashing following correct cleaning and sanitizing procedures for equipment and work area.

  • Polk County Health Department report
  • Daily rounds of manager for kitchen
  • Daily cleaning checklist
  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly condition
  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans, using dishwashers or by hand
  • Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas.

3. Sets up, deliver, and retrieve patient trays for meals adhering to the guidelines.

  • Clean or prepare various foods for cooking or serving
  • Feedback from the nursing staff that trays are on time and correct
  • Dirty trays not being found on floors
  • Flexibility with taking late trays up or down with direction from lead kitchen staff

4. Operates the Point of Sales system.

  • Charges all guests accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Counts cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Recording all cash drawer counts in book to maintain accuracy of drawer at the end of shift

5. Minor Responsibilities

  • Performs general cleaning throughout entire Nutrition Services Department
  • Taking temperatures for the dish room and in refrigerators on patient floors
  • Sweep or scrub floors.
  • Answering phone calls
  • Assisting with putting groceries away as they come in and following the FIFO rule
  • Reporting equipment failure to manager
  • Performing pre-prep and prep work for the Nutrition Services associates
Requirements:

Education & Licensure:

  • High school diploma or GED (or)
  • Currently enrolled in High School with an expected graduation date within the next 2 years

Experience:

  • Food service operations experience preferred but not required
