TITLE: Diabetes Education Program Insurance Specialist

LOCATION: Melville, 3HQ building

DEPARTMENT: Primary Care Service Line GL

REPORTS TO: The Assistant Vice President of Diabetes Education / CH Employee Diabetes Management Program Pharmacist.

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides administrative support for CH Diabetes Education and Endocrinology Program by completing insurance verification for all patients scheduled with a CH Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform insurance verification for all patients scheduled with a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists in one of our ADA recognized Diabetes Education Center locations.
  • Maintains the Diabetes Education Management Program shared drive and documents there in
  • May schedule patient visits to Diabetes Education Program
  • Communicate with My CHS Rx pharmacy regarding prescriptions coverage and copayments.
  • Maintains accurate filing/record keeping systems
  • Maintains excellent communication with internal staff members and with representatives from other departments and outside parties
  • Conducts herself/himself in conformity with all Compliance Assurance Standards
  • Performs related duties as assigned and unrelated duties as requested
  • Employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable institutional policies and procedures for patient privacy. In addition, employee conducts himself/herself in conformity with CH Security Polices and Procedure

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Business program certification and/or Medical Assistant Certificate
  • Excellent typing skills
  • Proficient in Word and Excel; Power Point preferred
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle matters of a confidential nature
  • Excellent communication skills and detail-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work well with others and function in a team oriented environment
  • Two (2) years related experience; healthcare preferred
