Job Title: Development Director
Supervised By: Executive Director
Hours: Full time, may require nights, weekends and after hours for events.

Summary:
The Development Director is responsible for all fundraising, will also coordinate with events and activities for the Kansas Automotive Museum. (KCAM) and will assist with increasing community awareness of all KCAM programs. The main goal of the Development Director is to help the Museum set and meet its annual fundraising goals as outlined in the fundraising strategy, and will collaborate with the Executive Director, board members and volunteers to seek external financial support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities-include the following:

  • Fundraising activities, including: (60%) o Maintain a database of donations and contacts o Develop fundraising strategy and plan for fundraising events o Attend major Museum events o Manage and develop relationships with current and potential donors o Solicit sponsorships, donations, corporate matching gifts and charitable bequests o Identify new foundations, corporations and opportunities to cultivate prospective donors o Maintain Donor database o Track progress of pending and secured donations o Assist with identifying new grant opportunities o Develop fundraising presentations o Grant writing
  • Fundraising events, including: (40%) o Plan 2 or 3 large fundraising events o Assist in selling vendor space for marketing events

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Experience in Fundraising/Development and/or sales is preferred.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents; ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints; ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style; ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases; ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

Use of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Google, Social Media, CRM, and basic understanding of databases.

Other Skills:

Excellent relationships building skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Good organizational skills.

Work Environment

While preforming the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical & Mental Requirements

The employee must occasionally lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Ability to work with minimal day to day direction. Ability to work some weekends and evenings.
